Welcome to the GOOGLE Get Active Challenge 2020!
This September, we are launching our first ever Google Get Active Challenge, a 6 week campaign to inspire Google employees to get more active, enjoy all the many benefits it brings, help raise money for our charity and win some great prizes and rewards!
Let's Get Active
Keeping active while we have all been working from home is crucial to our physical and mental health, and we know that many of you are missing the social interaction of being in the office.
This is not about being the fittest or the fastest, it’s simply about moving more for 6 weeks to reap a long-list of wellbeing benefits including increased energy, better concentration and a happier mood.
To help motivate everyone, this challenge brings in an element of competition between individuals and between Google departments, so you can beat your boss, Finance can take on Marketing, Human Resources can tackle Customer Service, IT versus Production – and whoever puts in more effort will win rewards.
All you have to do is sign-up, start getting active and the system and the app (coming early September) will do the rest and tell everyone how it is going. Any kind of activity counts and is tracked – run, walk, cycle, swim, online/offline classroom, weights, dog walks, Joe Wicks, treadmill, anything except being sedentary! Even walking along the beach with the family or to the pub counts. Remember you can Get Active anywhere in the world!
Share your photos of you getting active on Instagram and tag us #googlegetactive. The person with the most inspiring/exotic photo will win a case of champagne.
EARN A GREAT MEDAL AND PRIZES, HELP OUR CHARITY
There is a fantastic, specially designed Google medal that will be awarded to everyone who participates. Furthermore, there will be the chance to win fantastic prizes for the most active individual, team and office.
Entry is £20 and £10 of that is going directly to our UK Charity of the Year, MIND. This fantastic charity provides advice and support to empower anyone experiencing a mental health problem and campaign 24/7 to improve services, raise awareness and promote understanding. You can read more here.
We are also giving you the opportunity to top this up by adding your own donation if you would like to help meet our fundraising target of £7,500 😊
